THE MISSING CANDIDATE
June 23, 2026
“And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep… And Samuel said, Send and fetch him… Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward.”
- 1 Samuel 16:11–13
Bold One,
There’s a unique kind of disappointment that comes from not even being considered.
It's not because you weren’t qualified, but because no one thought to call your name. After a while, you begin to wonder if you’ve been overlooked by people or forgotten by God.
David can relate to this.
When the prophet Samuel came to anoint the next king of Israel, Jesse brought son after son before him. From the strongest, the oldest to the most impressive. Everyone who looked like the obvious choice was invited into the room.
Except David.
He wasn’t rejected or disqualified. He was simply forgotten. He was still out in the field, tending sheep, and faithfully doing what had been placed in his hands.
Then Samuel asked a question that changed history:
“Are these all your sons?”
Jesse replied,
“There remains yet the youngest…”
In that moment, Heaven stopped the entire process for the one everyone else had left behind.
Bold One, God knows exactly where to find you.
The same God who called David from the field is still calling people from overlooked places today.
Know that your current assignment is not your final destination. Your faithfulness in private is preparing you for favor in public.
So do not despise where you are.
Do not mistake being unseen by people for being unseen by God. When your appointed time arrives, God knows your address.
No opportunity can bypass you and no closed door can cancel God’s purpose for you.
Activate This Word - The Lord Knows My Name
Today, I come into agreement with the Word of the Lord over my life.
God knows my name.
He knows exactly where to find me.
I do not need to force open doors that He has not ordained.
I do not need to compete for what He has already prepared for me.
I declare that my faithfulness is not in vain.
Every unseen act of obedience matters.
Every season of preparation has purpose.
I will not despise small beginnings.
The Lord is preparing me for elevation.
The Lord is opening the right doors at the right time.
I decree and declare that no opportunity assigned to me will pass me by.
No person can block what God has approved and no delay can cancel what Heaven has spoken.
I declare:
I am positioned by the hand of God.
I am favored by the hand of God.
I am elevated by the hand of God.
I am not forgotten or overlooked.
The God who called David from the field is calling me into my next season.
My promotion is in His hands.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Tend Your Sheep
Today, identify the responsibility that God has already placed in your hands.
It may be the job you’ve grown tired of, the business you feel is too small, the family you’ve been entrusted with, or the ministry no one notices.
Then make a decision:
To give it your absolute best today.
To serve with excellence.
To go beyond what is expected.
Do the quiet work with the same passion you would have if everyone were watching.
As you do, pray:
Lord, I will be faithful in the field you have assigned to me. I trust you to call my name at the appointed time.
Bold One, David was promoted while faithfully tending sheep.
Your next season may begin with excellence in the one you’re already living.
